Maxwell Herman Alexander Newman was born on 7 February 1897 in Chelsea, London, England. Max Newman was an English mathematician who worked on combinatorial topology and theoretcal computer science. His codebreaking work in World War II has made him famous. Maxwell Herman Alexander Newman died on 22 February 1984 in Comberton (near Cambridge), England.
