What is reputation?
Reputation is a measurement of how much you have contributed to the catalog of BoP.
How exactly do I gain (or lose) reputation points?
Each of your contributions will be first queued for review. It will become public only if it gets accepted, in which case your reputation will increase by up to +12 points. Otherwise you might lose up to -10 points. Whether your contribution gets accepted or rejected depends on certain criteria assessed during the approval process. These criteria are, among others:
- Consistency of notation - It's a big deal to keep the notation of a wiki like this consistent. Please keep using the notation already introduced in the wiki.
- Mathematical formatting - Please use LaTeX syntax rather then MathML or HTML! This wiki uses MathJax to include formulae in your texts.
- Non-redundancy - Check if the topic you are going to contribute already exists in the wiki. If yes, consider becoming a co-author of the existing contribution rather then writing a new one.
- Spelling & grammar - This is an English-language wiki. Please make an effort to write at least reasonably correct English.
If you become a co-author of an existing contribution, the following criteria also apply:
- Relevance - Your change corrects an existing contribution significantly.
- Usefulness - Your change adds a useful new information which was missing in the contribution, making it even more interesting for users.
Contributions will be rejected under any circumstances, if they do not satisfy the following criteria:
- Legality - Content that violates any copyrights or law; in particular, avoid copying text/images from existing books and/or linking to images elsewhere on the Web.
- Netiquette - Content with poor netiquette; when posting comments, stay polite and respectful to your peers and try to be as objective as possible.
Please note that all reviewers are working hard to assess the legality and netiquette of your postings to the best of their knowledge. However, under some rare circumstances, a contribution might get approved, although it has a poor netiquette or is illegal in some jurisdictions.
If you find any indication that a contribution is violating our netiquette or existing law, please contact webmaster(at)bookofproofs.org.
In justified cases it will be deleted from BoP.
