Armand-Hippolyte-Louis Fizeau was born on 23 September 1819 in Paris, France. He was a French physicist who was able to measure the speed of light in 1849 using cogwheels and who estimated it to about 315,000 km per second. Armand-Hippolyte-Louis Fizeau died on 18 September 1896 in Nanteuil-le-Haudouin, Seine-et-Marne, France.
