Cornelius Lanczos was born on 2 February 1893 in Székesfehérvár, Hungary. Lanczos worked on relativity and mathematical physics and invented what is now called the Fast Fourier Transform Cornelius Lanczos died on 25 June 1974 in Budapest, Hungary.
