George Lowe Moffat was born on 18 June 1872 in Leith (near Edinburgh), Scotland. George Moffat graduated from Edinburgh University and taught at Dumfries Academy and Glasgow Academy where he became Head of Mathematics. George Lowe Moffat died on 15 April 1934 in Helensburgh, Scotland.
