Issai Schur was born on 10 January 1875 in Mogilev, Russian Empire (now Belarus). Issai Schur is mainly known for his fundamental work on the representation theory of groups but he also worked in number theory and analysis. Issai Schur died on 10 January 1941 in Tel Aviv, Palestine (now Israel).
