Johann Andreas von Segner was born on 9 October 1704 in Pozsony, Hungary (now Bratislava, Slovakia). Jan Segner was a Hungarian mathematician who was the first professor of mathematics at Göttingen. He made substantial contributions to the theoery of Dynamics. Johann Andreas von Segner died on 5 October 1777 in Halle, Prussia (now Germany).
