Ludwig Otto Hesse (1811 - 1874)

Ludwig Otto Hesse was born on 22 April 1811 in Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). Otto Hesse worked on the development of the theory algebraic functions and the theory of invariants. He is remembered particularly for introducing the Hessian determinant. Ludwig Otto Hesse died on 4 August 1874 in Munich, Germany.
