Luigi Federico Menabrea was born on 4 September 1809 in Chambéry, Savoy, France. Luigi Menabrea was a French-born soldier and engineer who made contributions to elasticity theory and became prime-minister of Italy. Luigi Federico Menabrea died on 24 May 1896 in St Cassin (near Chambéry), France.
