Maria Gaëtana Agnesi was born on 16 May 1718 in Milan, Habsburg Empire (now Italy). Maria Agnesi was an Italian mathematician who is noted for her work in differential calculus. She discussed the cubic curve now known as the ‘witch of Agnesi’. Maria Gaëtana Agnesi died on 9 January 1799 in Milan, Habsburg Empire (now Italy).
