Archytas of Tarentum was born about 428 BC in Tarentum (now Taranto), Magna Graecia (now Italy). Archytas was a Greek mathematician, statesman and philosopher who worked on the harmonic mean and the problem of duplicating the cube. Archytas of Tarentum died about 350 BC.
