John Greenlees Semple

John Greenlees Semple (1904 - 1985)

John Greenlees Semple was born on 10 June 1904 in Belfast, Ireland. John Semple studied at Queen’s University Belfast and Cambridge. He held a post in Edinburgh for a year before becoming Professor of Pure Mathematics at Queen’s College Belfast. He moved to King’s College London where he spent the rest of his career. His most important work was in Algebraic geometry. John Greenlees Semple died on 23 October 1985 in London, England.
